School to Work Alliance Program (SWAP)

CO DVR logoSWAP logo

Who:

SWAP works with students/youths with a suspected disability, on an IEP (Individualized Education Plan), or a 504 plan.  Starting at age 15 to age 24, students can begin career exploration, prepare for entering the workforce, and gain confidence in making decisions about the future.

SWAP will offer periodic activities (work place tours, virtual tours, workshops, etc.) and will require little time commitment while in high school.  Successful SWAP students have a strong desire to learn more about the world of work and are committed to a minimum of two activities a year, with no maximum!  Out of school youth will have more involvement while actively pursuing employment, work related education, or training.  SWAP services are available through the age of 24.

What:

Our school district partners with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) to provide SWAP services. In order to be eligible for the program and participate in SWAP activities, the appropriate application (under "SWAP Applications" to the left) must be completed and returned to a SWAP representative.  Please note that your social security number is required by DVR to confirm work eligibility in the state of Colorado.

How:

SWAP services are FREE, focus on career exploration, and job readiness training. Meetings and activities occur before, during, or after school in various locations, on campus, or in the community. Optional activities may be offered during spring and summer breaks.  SWAP services may include:

🔺 Assessment of interest & abilities 🔺Learning tours for careers/training programs
🔺 Job readiness training 🔺 Hands on activities to practice/learn job skills
🔺 Job search activities 🔺 Resume writing, cover letters & mock interviews
We look forward to working with you and can't wait to support you in building your bright future!
