If you are interested in teaching a professional learning opportunities course, please read the information below and complete the proposal. Steps for the course approval process are listed below. Staff interested in teaching courses must first have a consultation with Josh Urich or Susan Ernst. Following the consultation, Josh and/or Susan will send you a Course Proposal Form.

Instructor Compensation:

Instructors or Supervisors will determine the best format to offer professional learning opportunities.  This could include face to face, blended, or completely online formats.

Instructors may earn continuing education units worth twice the amount of hours of the course the first time it is offered, or a stipend. 

If courses are offered multiple times, instructors may earn continuing education units equal to the course, or a stipend.

Instructor credit or stipend is only earned for work completed during off-contract hours.

Steps for Course Approval:

  1. The potential facilitator or instructor will review the Professional Learning Facilitator/Instructor FAQs and Supporting Information document: Facilitator FAQs and Information

  2. Schedule a face-to-face consultation with Josh Urich or Susan Ernst. Following your consultation, you will be provided with the link for the Proposal Form. Fill out the Course Proposal Form.

  3. The Course Proposal is routed to the Department of Instruction.

  4. Approval is given, or feedback is given to the submitter for re-application.  Submissions may be discussed with the professional learning opportunities team as part of the review process.

  5. Once a course has been approved, the Department of Instruction will create a course advertisement and will facilitate with registration, the addition of students into the Canvas course, and payment.

  6. During the course, documentation of attendance and participation must be recorded.

  7. After the course is complete, the names of participants are submitted to Adele Lind-Nichols in the Department of Instruction for processing.
