EMPOWER — a community outreach program — is designed to provide an in-depth and behind-the-scenes look at various facets of the Weld RE-4 School District. Through EMPOWER, we look to:

  • Engage parents and community members for the benefit of our students.
  • Equip community members with a deeper understanding of the district.
  • Create a sounding board for better-informed district decision making.
  • Provide opportunities for members to serve the community and build leadership capacity.
  • Strengthen relationships across the community.

Every year, we invite approximately 25 citizens representing Weld RE-4 schools and various areas of our community to join a cohort of learners. The spring / summer 2022 cohort will also include a synchronous online cohort of 25 participants.

Over the course of the program, EMPOWER participants meet seven times for 90-minute sessions led by district leaders. Each session will cover a different topic — from finance and operations to classroom instruction, and technology to exceptional student services. Participants will be provided opportunities to learn more about the district through engaging presentations, student / staff demonstrations, tours, community conversations, and Q&A panels.
EMPOWER is especially valuable for community members who want to obtain a foundation in district operations and governance, and become more engaged in the school district.

Commitment By participating in EMPOWER, you are committing to attend from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. each month from March through September. Lunch will be provided. The first session will be held on Thursday, March 31, with subsequent sessions announced at the first meeting.

To ensure the best experience, participants are encouraged to actively engage in each session through conversations and questions.
Applications are being accepted through Friday, March 11. Selected candidates will be notified the week of March 14. A limited number of seats are available in both the online and in-person cohort.
